The GREAT Acorn Auction in aid of COMIC RELIEF

Total so far.......

£965

March 12th 1999 has been designated as Comic Relief Day 7. As we all know, Acorn Users are the greatest user group anywhere in the known universe (proven by the fact that Dr. Who's TARDIS was powered by both an A3000 and a BBC B at one time!). Now, as this is known only to us and other intellegent life forms (i.e. non WINTEL addicts), we need to prove it. To this end, with the support of such major Acorn players as Acorn User, Clares Micro Supplies and Computer Concepts, the auction has been arranged.

The aim of the event is to obviously raise as much money as possible and present one of those very silly, oversized cheques on the big day and promote Acorns through out the country. Goodness knows we could do with something positive at the moment!

Bidding is very simple.

You can make your bid via email, snail mail, phone or fax.

Say you wanted to bid for the special edition Talking Joystick. Simply tell me that you want it. Each initial bid for any piece of soft or hardware costs but a pound. Every time you bid again on that product, costs you nothing (this ensures that at least something is donated!). I said it was simple!

A quicky

I have been asked if any of this money gets paid to anyone else other than Comic Relief. "No" is the simplest answer. Every penny / cheque donated to the auction goes to Comic Relief. All webspace, adverts and the such as well as software donated is given totally freely. Nothing goes to either the donators or me. 100% goes to Comic Relief

How do you contact the auction - again, it's made easy.

The bid page will be updated daily (or for the Java version), quite a lot more often (I have an applet which does a ticker tape doodab). Adverts will be in the Acorn User and Archive monthly until March 1999 and postings will be made to the comp.acorn.announce newsgroup every couple of days.
