Ninth Annual Workshop

on Software Reuse

WISR'9 7-9 January 1999

Austin, Texas, USA

We invite you to participate in WISR'9, 7-9 January 1999, at the University of Texas-Austin. WISR'9 will bring together the leading researchers and practitioners in the field of reuse for two days of informal interaction and leading-edge discussions. The WISR series of workshops has a tradition of serving as the testing ground for innovative ideas and spawning concepts that develop into influential papers and novel approaches.

The WISR workshops have always attracted the very best personnel from academia and industry. WISR'9 will consist of a condensed two-day program that emphasizes plenary debates on specialized reuse topics. Attendance is by invitation only based on a position paper (5 page max).

Important Dates

Submissions (html): 1 Sept 98
Acceptance: 1 Oct 98
Final Copy: 1 Nov 98

Workshop Fees

Registration Early: $175
Registration Late: $225

Position papers must follow the traditional format from the WISR WWW site and clearly state a position for or against a current topic in reuse. The format consists of the background of a topic, the author's position on the topic, the author's approach to the topic, a comparison to related work with references, and a short biography of the author. Invitations will be based on a combination of: (1) the clarity of the position in the paper, (2) the strength of research justifying the position, (3) how well the author relates the position to prior work in the field, and (4) the prior experience of the author. A position paper need not meet all criteria; for example, a previously unpublished author may obtain an invitation by establishing a clear position on a topic and justifying the position with appropriate citations. Position papers must have at most one author. Attendance will be limited to approximately 40 participants.

Submit the URL or for your position paper in html format by 1 September 1998 to Larry Latour at larry@gandalf.umcs.maine.edu.
