Previous: Scope and Objectives
The primary input to the working group was the
Simos position paper (in the WISR Proceedings).
We also drew on the recent results from
the Domain Modeling working group report from the Reuse Education
`95 workshop.
In the strawperson position paper, the main differentiating features
identified for representation strategies were:
-
the degree to which the representations employed allowed for
separation from specific system modeling techniques;
-
the semantic expressiveness of the representations.
In the working group, this set of attributes was critiqued and further
refined in much greater detail.
Some of the alternative strategies considered included:
-
semantic network-based representations (e.g., RLF)
-
decision rules (e.g., the Boeing STARS ROAMS??? tool)
-
object-oriented notations
-
object-oriented + frameworks
-
faceted schemes
-
configuration management (contentious)
