Teleconference with Captain Nelson?

Teleconference with NOAA Scientists

On January 30, Captain Craig S. Nelson of the MALCOLM BALDRIGE came to Ligon GT Middle School in Raleigh, NC. He met with the MidLink Editors to discuss plans for a teleconference. Students participated in a CU-SeeMe teleconference on Wednesday, February 28, 1996 at 9:00 a.m. EST. The event was covered by WRAL TV reporter, Tom Lawrence.

Special thanks to Susan Thompson at Garrett Academy of Technology, Charleston, SC, who graciously agreed to host Captain Nelson and Ensign Mark Wetzler for the event. Mark Mueller and his students from Highland Middle School , Libertyville, Ill., also came to the conference. They even did a web page about the teleconference. A good time was had by all!

The purpose of this teleconference was to get together with all of the students who have been writing to the BALDRIGE crew for the last year. We also planned our activities for the upcoming voyage, starting in March. If you want to join our adventure, it's EASY! Just read the Baldrige Sets Sail article in MidLink each month. You can write to the captain and crew directly from these pages.

Look forward to more such teleconferences in the future. If you need software for our next teleconference, CU-SeeMe is available HERE at the Cornell University Home Page free of charge.
