FreeNet runs on two Sun SparcStation 10 Model 512 and a SparcStation IPX computer from Sun Microsystems, and two Unix SPARC multi-user servers donated by Hardware Canada Computing, Canada's 'One-Stop Unix Shop'.
The initial 2400 bps modems were supplied by Gandalf Technologies Inc. and sixty-four Sportster 14.4 modems are being supplied by U.S. Robotics / Keating Technologies Inc.
Fulcrum Technologies Inc. is donating its Surfboard text-retrieval software.
Newbridge Networks Corporation donated a Newbridge ACC Amazon router.
Oracle Corporation Canada Inc. donated administrative database software.
NCF uses a Plaintree WaveSwitch 4+ Ethernet Switch donated by Plaintree Systems Inc. / Loran Technologies Inc.
The Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton provides support for NCF's economic development initiatives.
