US Department of Agriculture

Congressional Relations

Congressional Relations serves as the Department's primary liaison with Members of Congress and their staffs; State, local and tribal governments; State Departments of Agriculture; and national organizations representing these constituents. The Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations (OCIR) works particularly closely with Members and staffs of the House Agriculture Committee and the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry to communicate USDA's legislative agenda and budget proposals. OCR has worked aggressively to reach out to State, local, and tribal officials to provide them with departmental information and assist them with the many Federal programs available at USDA.
