Telecommunication Standards Acquisition Resource

Note: The TSAR project has been discontinued due to a lack of funding. This information is left here for viewers who would like to see what the TSAR was all about. Information on how the project was designed can be obtained from the authors.

The Institute's Federal Telecommunications Standards Database project addresses the need for a readily accessible and user-friendly computer database service to provide key information on standards used in Federal telecommunications procurement. The service is targeted towards two primary user communities: persons involved in Government acquisition of telecommunications equipment and services and the writers of future telecommunication standards.

Many new features were added to the TSAR in Fiscal Year 1993.

For quick access, you can skip ahead to the "How to Access the TSAR" section.

Each standard listed in the database contains the following information: Note: The TSAR does not contain the full text of the standards. It provides detailed information about each standard. If the actual text of a standard is needed, the name, address, and phone number of a place to order from is displayed.

The most Current lists (generated daily) of standards contained in the TSAR are available for viewing via WWW.

Full information for each of the listed standards is available by accessing the TSAR itself.

Here are some sample views of the TSAR and the information it contains,
