Swallow-tailed Kite

Ave de presa de plumaje blanco y negro con la cola ahorquillada. Tama±o: 50-64 cm.; peso: 465 g. Esta especie planea sobre ciΘnagas y pantanos, cazando grandes insectos, lagartos, ranas y peque±as aves. Anida en el sur de Estados Unidos, de la costa de Carolina del Sur hasta Luisiana, y tambiΘn desde el sur de MΘxico hasta Paraguay. Las poblaciones norte±as invernan en el norte de AmΘrica del Sur. Especie rara en Puerto Rico, con un avistamiento reciente en Humacao (16 de septiembre de 1999).
