Limícola alto de plumaje blanco y negro y pico delgado y curvado hacia arriba. En plumaje de reproducción la cabeza y el cuello están teñidos de color canela. Tamaño: 41-51 cm.; peso: 302-461 g. Audio (M. Oberle). Anida en la costa este de los Estados Unidos y el oeste de América del Norte, invernando en América Central, el sureste de los Estados Unidos, las Bahamas y Cuba.
