A yellow oriole with a black head, wings and tail. Length: 19-24 cm.; weight: 31-52 g. Audio (G. Lasley). Native to Central America, this bird has been reported rarely in the wild Puerto Rico. In fact, since this species is also kept as a cage bird, the observations in the wild may be due to recently escaped individuals rather than birds born in the wild (Ramey, 12 June 1995).

TAXONOMY: PASSERIFORMES; ICTERIDAE. Formerly called the Black-headed Oriole.
