A large parakeet with a red head and white eye ring. Immature birds have a green head, but red can be seen on the wing in flight. Length: 33 cm. Audio (M. Oberle). Native to Peru and Ecuador. Introduced to Puerto Rico where it has been found recently in trees along PR 682 east or west of the entrance to Cambalache State Forest.

TAXONOMY: PSITTACIFORMES; PSITTACIDAE; Arinae. Also known as Cherry-headed Conure.
