Similar to the Orange-fronted Parakeet, but with variable amounts of orange extending into a large cheek patch. The throat is brown and the eye ring is white. Length: 25 cm.; weight: 76-102 g. Introduced from northern South America to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Brown-throated Parakeets had been seen in Luquillo, Culebra and Vieques (although not in recent years), but it is not clear if these were recently escaped pet birds or wandering individuals from the established population on St. Thomas.

TAXONOMY: PSITTACIFORMES; PSITTACIDAE; Arinae
