A large, white waterbird with a long neck. Length: 120-150 cm.; weight: 4,300-9,600 g. Audio 2 (M. Oberle). Breeds on the Arctic tundra of Alaska, Canada and Eurasia. Accidental in wetlands of Puerto Rico. The Black Swan, Cygnus atratus, of Australia is occasionally displayed at hotel or golf course ponds, but does not breed in the wild in Puerto Rico. It is mostly black with a red bill.

TAXONOMY: ANSERIFORMES; ANATIDAE; Anserinae. Formerly called the Whistling Swan.
