LIVING IN JAPAN

In Japan trash has to be separated into burnable and non-burnable trash. Two kinds of liter boxes are, therefore, used in a Japanese household.
Burnable trash is usually collected three times a week, while non-burnable trash is collected once a week. What trash is collected on what days of the week depends on the area you live in. You will find signs that inform you about the trash service in your neighbourhood.

of trash is collected when.

Burnable trash includes food rests, paper, boxes, ...
Non-Burnable trash includes plastic, glass, leather, metal, ...
Larger trash like furnitures, bicycles, and electric appliances are usually collected twice a month.

Not collected by these services are toxic and hazardous items.
