I work at McDonalds. Yes, I am only 15, and yes, i have to do the occasional 6:00 sunday shift. But not every sunday. In fact, In the year I have been working there I have only had to do it about 5 or 6 times.

I disagree with your comment about any trained monkey being able to work at McDonalds. I have an IQ of 136, and am at the top of the selective school I attend. However I do have some difficulty learning the procedures and keeping up with the paper work at times. This is not work imposed on us by the company, but by the health department.

The good thing about working at McDonalds is that young people do get a chance at responsibility. There are not many companies which give young people the chance to be given responsibility for a small part of the store, such as birthday parties or the recently opened McCafe, or to be promoted to Crew Trainer, Crew cheif and eventually management. Having experience at McDonalds looks fantastic on your CV.

You say that social lives are damaged by the shifts, but what kind of social life will you have without any cash? I personally hate being dependant on my family for money, for guilt and inconvenince. being able to support myself has been much more convenient for me. Because of the flexible hours, if there is an evening in particular i want to go out, i simply tell them I am not available.

Do not blame the store managers for having to employ 15 year olds, this is a pressure placed on them by head office. I, as most of my friends have, found that the fact McDonalds only emplys young people has boosted my social life, as I have made many friends.

Sure, McDonalds may not be for everyone, but if it's not for you DON'T WORK THERE!!!! and don't complain about the way they exploit their workers unless you have names, dates and specific incidents to back up your case.

'Cause it simply isn't true.
