: We shouldn't have to grow up. Teenage years are NOT about making money for billion dollar companies. Many kids don't know what they are getting themselves in for when they go to work at McDonalds.

Sure they do. As with any sort of employment, McJobs carry a certain amount of responsibility. That's right, it's something that few kids have to deal with these days but it goes along with the work and must be accepted.

:They think that they have a part-time job that will fit into their study time-table and they can earn some extra money. They don't realise that they have just devoted their lives and self-respect to McDonalds who don't give a shit about their education. If McDonalds said to you before you were employed "We are going to put you on at 6.30am on Sunday morning so you can't go out with your friends the night before. Oh and seeing as we understaff to cut costs we are also going to put you on EVERY Sunday morning so there goes your social life (and probably your education as well)" then how many employees do you think they would get????????

So quit. I see that your significant other has already taken these steps, well good for you both. I hope that your boyfriend can find a job that is more flexible to his schedule, but I doubt it. In comparison to other jobs, McDonald's offers more flexible hours. Also, if they made him work early on Sundays, why didn't he just put a note in?

: Don't tell us to grow up, you should WAKE UP and see that your darling little McDonalds is not doing these kids any favours but "introducing kids to the workforce" (which I think is your point) when they are not old enough to vote, drink, make legal choices, get individual government assistance, take out a bank loan and sometimes drive. Once kids are old enough to handle the responsibilities of these things then they are old enough to handle the responsibility of the workforce

It's not as if McDonald's managers come storming into your home and force you to apply to work for them at gun point. They are not slave drivers. Nobody is forced to work at McDonald's. You make it seem as if you have to work there forever. No, you can quit at any time. Also, if you don't feel like you have the commitment that is essential to such a job, don't even apply, you will hate it. The work is in no way hard, dangerous, or a mental drain. Any trained monkey can work at McDonald's, but it requires some degree of commitment.
