Where would your employer be without us?

: Now that the summer is behind us, tourists have gone home and :the pace has slowed down, everyone who works in fast food can slow :down too.
: To all you people who think the prices are too high, the food is :too cold and there is always a hair in your fries, I salute you. :Because without you, fast food restaurants would not exist. But I am :not writing this letter really to salute you, but merely to educate :you.

Gee! It's sooo nice to see our business is appreciated!!!

: I work in a fast food restaurant. Everyday I am one of those :"people" who either cook your food, collect your money or clean your :unnecessary messes in our lobby. I take your lip, derogatory remarks :and your insults and you bring me down.

Ohhhh! You're makin me cry! Maybe you should try out for Broadway, you seem to be better suited for that than working in a fast food joint.

As for cleaning the messes, that's part of what you're getting paid for, whether you acknowledge that or not. FYI, I don't make it a practice to give the staff a hard time, and I usually throw away my trash and put my tray in the designated place over the trash container. The rare time that I leave it for the staff is when I receive piss poor food and service, which many of you anti-customer whiners fail to acknowledge exists at times depending on location.

: The manager tells us all the time "the customer is always right" :but 99.9% of the time the customer is wrong.

That figure is highly exaggerated!!! It's most likely 10% or less customers that are the chip-on-the-shoulder belligerent type. And I've been around. Very rarely have I witnessed heated exchanges at the counter. The last one I remember wasn't even at a restaurant. It was at a convenience store. A drunk patron was pissed off at a clerk for refusing to sell him alcohol. [In Texas, stores that sell alcoholic bevereges can lose their license if law enforcement finds out they sold beer, wine or whatever to intoxicated customers.] This was months ago.
There are certain crewpeople that aren't exactly saints either. They hold up the line while they bullshit with their peers from the outside. Meanwhile, customers' orders in the bins are getting cold. At some local places here, certain shifts are notorius for screwing up orders. I know you're probably saying don't special-order. But not everyone wants a burger the same way. And the cheese, bacon, and jalapeno ARE extra-cost items (which I have no problem with..that's fair.). It's true that many of us have a problem when we frequently have to take our burgers back up to the counter and remind the crew to add these missing items we paid for. And you may deny that anyone receives a cold burger, but lately I've been receiving burgers that are just barely lukewarm. It's not my imagination. I haven't said anything about this, and I still picked up my trash. But I will ask the manager what's up (in a cordiall way) if it happens again.

In many parts of the country, customer service is slipping. I really can't blame patrons for losing their patience and letting the staff know their frustrations. They work hard for their pay, too, and I fully understand the aggravation of spending your hard-earned money on shitty food, and dealing with a staff that doesn't even apologize for the screw-up, sometimes you don't know which is worse.

I understand I should not prejudge people I don't know, but when people like you post customer-bashing messages (and there have been many) like that, it makes me wonder if any of us are appreciated. You certainly don't seem to be giving the good customers any credit or respect.
