Abstract
Questions about the conduct and reporting of tests carried
out to assess possible adverse health effects of the
artificial sweetener, Aspartame, led to an investigation of
the tests by the US FDA. There is considerable evidence
that the tests were inadequate, not objective and not up to
scientific standards.

Just a Spoonful of Aspartame.
Source
Utne Reader. (28):16-17. 1988 Jul. [Illustration]
Abstract
There's growing evidence that the new artificial
sweeteners, like their predecessors, have severe side
effects. Artificial sweeteners may also trigger hunger by
causing chemical changes in the brain.

Aspartame critic urges more study of the sweetener.

Abstract
A new study by John Olney of Washington University in St
Louis raises questions about a possible link between
aspartame and brain cancer, although the sweetener's
principal manufacturer, Monsanto Co's Nutrasweet Kelco Co
disputes the claims. Olney's study appears in the Journal
of Neuropathology and Experimental Neurology published the
week of Nov 4, 1996.
