: I am currently researching into the world of plastics and specifically into the world of biodegradable plastics - would it be possible for you to send me any relevant information that you may have? I am searching the web for information but only seem to discover web pages of complete jargon.: Many thanks,

Hi Alwena,
Greetings from Canada. I am in the recycling business and biodegradable plastics were all the rage a few years back. The only problem is that it's a lot of rubbish. All that happens is that one large piece of plastic, like a carrier bag, merely breaks down into lots of small bits of plastic. I think it is something to do with the corn (or whatever they use in the manufacture. I am not a plastics expert, so don't take my word as gospel, or even close. But that is what I have been led to believe and it makes sense to me. If plastic isn't organic, how can it biodegrade? Anyway, it was a good public relations angle for the plastics guys who were getting heat aboput litter - and they sure need good PR angles...
Good luck in your research - and don't believe a word those plastics guys tell you!
