It is correct that SU bars are obliged under contract to stock Pepsi, this is a well negotiated and recent deal between central NUS and Britvic. However I have it from the horses mouth that they were not made aware of the Pepsi/Burmah issue by anyone while this deal was being negotiated. I can't help but think that it would be a better use of third world first resources, and more effective to make NUS aware of such issues at the time of arranging the contract rather than when it's too late. Pepsi may have pulled out earlier if a contract worth 1 million litres a year was at risk, which I'm sure it would have been had the NUS negotiators been briefed by 3W1.

Congratulations are due to 3W1 on their excellent student union campaigning, but this is an urge to think like businessmen as well as a pressure group. NVDA and consumer action are precision instruments which work best when skillfully hadled - let's hope 3W1 become masters at it.

Please note that I do not work for NUS so my view is my own only.
