my father died of cjd about 18 years ago. in those days, there was no talk of bse or contaminated beef. his was the second known case in mexico, and we never knew how he became ill.
this recent publicity about bse and cjd and prions has brought back painful memories, but has also made us interested in learning more about the disease. for example, is there a family link? can it be passed on to other members of the family?
