America really is the over-consumption capital of the world, everyone there wants (and gets) more than they need of everything. Its capitalism taken to an absolute extreme. This probaly explains why there are so many obese people there, in fact more per capita than any other nation on the planet. If you look at the guiness book of records you will see than 8 out of the top 10 heaviest people of all time have been americans.

However it isn't just MacDonalds which will destroy family values in the world, its every massive corporation from Nike to Microsoft as they all promote the "gimme, gimme" society.

But hey what can you do?
