Much as I hate to intervene in your own private little feud, I think that your post is a little out of line...

: Mike is disappointed in Cara. She has become a coporate whore for
: McDonalds. She has been indoctrinated into the belief that all
: McDs does is right. She says she knows they do some bad things,
: but has trouble coming up with even one such thing.

I wouldn't agree with Cara with much about this subject, but I wouldn't call anyone a "corporate whore". In this case, I think she's right. With respect to the original poster, at no point did he state that McMom packs _weren't_ being given out to fathers. He just felt offended that they were primarily aimed at mothers. Doubtless he also feels offended by the existence of tampons (note: NOT ENTIRELY SERIOUS comment).

I don't think McD's, loathsome as I find them, would be stupid enough to discriminate quite so openly. As for not finding bad things to say about McD's, well, she is pro-McD's on a largely anti-McD's site (that's the people, not the site as such) - if she actually admitted weaknesses in her argument, us nasty anarchist subversives would take great pleasure in eating her for breakfast.

Oh, and it's terribly pseudish to write about yourself in the third person...

: Dan is right, if there was a dad package it would be called sexist. : Are we truly in search of equality, or feminazism?

Examine the modern Western world. What proportion of fathers give up their day-to-day jobs to look after the children? McDonald's are trying to strengthen their "family-friendly" image by making the parents feel happier, and since most of the children during the day will be brought in by their mothers it seems a transparently obvious thing to do.

Furthermore, in my experience, "feminazism" is a term that speaks volumes about the user. Usually, it says "I'm utterly insecure about women having any sort of power at all, let alone equality".

: A dissatisfied Mike

Grow up. Relax a little. If you really want to moan about it, why not go and moan to McD's themselves, rather than McSpotlight? You do your small pro-McD's alliance here no favours by your behaviour.

Gideon.
