: : If that's what will make America strongest, that's what we should do. After all, a nation's sole purpose is to see that ITS populace survives/succeeds. What happens to everyone else is their own country's business.: You've missed the point of my message, but at least your honesty is
: refreshing. No namby-pamby crap about spreading democracy and
: enlightenment around the globe. Just good old acquisition of foreign
: labor and resources. I think a guy in Germany in the 1930's had a
: similar idea.
Putting America's interests first and helping other countries are not mutually exclusive items, in most cases. I think history has taught America that our welfare is affected, to a certain extent, by the welfare of others. But America's primary responsibility is to look out for America.
: But who's this "we" you're referring to? What is a nation? Is it an
: entity that exists apart from its citizens? The last sentence of my
: original message, which you excluded, was intended to make the point
: that the ruling cabal of capitalists in America has made life miserable
: for the people. Now it wants to do the same with the citizens of
: other nations. This money cabal is what most Americans refer to
: when they say "we" ought to be doing something. Just another way in
: which capitalist propaganda molds our minds to meet the needs of the
: rich and powerful.
I would disagree that the majority of Americans are miserable. And hey, don't knock the ruling cabal; I hope to someday be part of that ruling cabal, thank you very much!
