Lenin and Trotsky caused the failure of the workers revolution by using it to ensure that they took power rather than using it to destroy power. One of the things Trotskyists tend to keep quiet about, when debating with other revolutionaries is the fact that once the bolsheviks were in power, Trotsky began to systematically imprison and execute those from other revolutionary backgrounds (such as anrchists).
