First of all, large multinational corporations don't pay much of the tax burden as it is. Taxation, esp. in Britain and the US in the 1980s has been a subsidy of the rich by the poor.

So why do you say Capitalism is necessary for democracy anyway? Looking at it closer, I think the two are mutually exclusive, at least when large multinationals exist.
