Come on down and thaw out! The power is cruising just fine, and AOL is not currently experiencing any brain farts...at least here. If we do get any frozen precipitation, it usually doesn't last longer than a day or two. And you get colorful weather here in North Texas this time of year. It can be 90 degree one day and in the 30's the next. Thanks to El Nino, we've even had thunderstorms in January! It's not supposed to get out of the 30's today and tomorrow, but by Saturday it should be in the 60's.
But even our coldest day would probably feel tropical to those of you in the Great White North. Texas...think about it! No earthquakes or volcano eruptions. And no last-forever nasty-ass winters...unless you live in the Panhandle. Our biggest threat is severe and supercell thunderstorms, complete with the occasional tornado and large hail.
Getting to the serious side, I'm thankful that neither I nor my relatives have experienced any tornadic storms. I'm thankful that my car and apartment wasn't damaged by the baseball size hail storms that blew through the Metroplex in May '95. I'm glad that severe weather hasn't tragically affected me or anyone I know. Hopefully that will stay that way!!!
For you non-vegatarians, you can delight yourselves with our Tex-Mex food (I DON'T mean Taco Bell!!!), barbeque, and chicken fried steaks...don't forget the chili (or the Beano!!!).
And then there's our nice Texas music. Willie Nelson is still doing his thing down in Austin, Lyle Lovitt too! Then there is Stevie Ray Vaughn, whose music is eternal, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Robert Earl Keene. Ah yes! There's Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories, Deep Blue Something, and if you must, the Toadies! Too much music to mention...certainly plenty to make you forget about Alannis Morrisette..eh Mr. Sprout?!!!
