    "Carpatho-Rusyns - Today and Tomorrow": A Discussion with Paul R. Magocsi
    St. John's Church Auditorium, 364 Mill Hill Ave., Bridgeport, Connecticut

      Professor Paul Robert Magocsi, Chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Toronto, will speak at St. John's Church Auditorium on October 11, 2003. Prof. Magocsi is the founding President of the Carpatho-Rusyn Research Center, Inc., and also a founding member of the the World Congress of Rusyns and a member of its executive council. He has published hundreds of studies in various disciplines, more than half of which focus on Carpatho-Rusyns in both North America and Europe.

      Included in his works are:

      • The Shaping of a National Identity;
      • Our People: Carpatho-Rusyns and Their Descendants in North America;
      • The Rusyns of Slovakia; and
      • the recently-published Encyclopedia of Rusyn History and Culture.

      His writings and modern-day leadership have resulted in his being compared to the 19th-century leader of the Rusyn people, Aleksander Duchnovic. Prof. Magogsi has played an important part in the awakening of the Rusyn identity in the United States and throughout the world. Don't miss this opportunity to meet and listen to this always dynamic, and sometimes controversial, world-renowned figure.

      Admission is free; everyone is welcome!
