Chapter Meeting & Guest Presentation
"Carpatho-Rusyn Genealogy:
Researching Slavic Ancestors"
presented by
Polly Walker & Maryann
Bacsik
Carpatho-Rusyn Society members Polly Walker (Minnesota) and
Maryann Bacsik (New Jersey) will present a dynamic workshop
on Carpatho-Rusyn genealogy. This how-to-do-it lecture will
provide you with sources of information in the U.S.,
Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, and other areas of the historic
Rusyn homeland. In addition, you will learn how to find
information on your family's ancestral roots and cultural
religious associations. This in-depth presentation will
cover how to get started, resources, and include vivid
photography of European locations, data sheets, along with
organizations and people who can support your needs and
research. The presenters have many years of experience in
East European and American immigrant genealogical research.
The session promises to be a very enjoyable and informative
experience for anyone who attends.
Time-permitting, after the presentation, a tour of the
interior of the Cathedral, with its wonderful iconography,
will be conducted.
Identify your roots – Find
your long-lost relatives!
Thanks
to the initiative of one of our Chapter members, our
presentation will be offered in a new venue within the
District of Columbia. We will meet at St. Nicholas Orthodox
Cathedral (Social Hall), a community where a number of Rusyn
families and DC Chapter C-RS members continue to worship.
