RUSYN Film Festival

    Dear Members and Friends of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society;

    The National Capital Chapter of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society is presenting a Rusyn Film Festival with segments of Rusyns films and films about Rusyns.  Brian Pozun (C-RS New York City) who is well versed in Rusyn popular culture will provide commentary about the films.  He was instrumental in the founding of the Rusyn youth group "Rusyn Outpost: North America".  Brian has been guest speaker at several C-RS chapters and functions.  His present ions have been well received, very informative and interesting, as well as providing an insight to the Rusyn culture and heritage.  Most of these films are hard to find and the chapter is very fortunate to have Brian participating in this event.  Film segments include:

    2.   Russky Potok - A short documentary that examines the first post-communist elections in a Rusyn village in Czechoslovakia.

    1. Stories and Legends of Ladomyrova - A series of vignettes about Rusyn villagers' memories of bygone days.
    2. Jakub - A documentary about the people of a Rusyn village in Romania who were relocated to the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia after World War II.
    3. Pisne Polonin - A documentary on the musical traditions of Subcarpathian Rus'.
    4. Balada pro Banditu - A musical, similar to the American musical Hair, based on the novel Nikola the Bandit by Ivan Olbracht.
    5. The Warhol Nation - A short documentary on attitudes towards Andy Warhol among the Rusyns of Slovakia.
    6. A Legacy of Faith - A recently produced documentary about the St. Nicholas of Myra Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church in New York City.
