NJ Chapter members,
Carol Morrison and Mary Ann Bascik, creators of the avillagecluster
website will discuss how the individual historical research and writing
of three Rusyn-Lemko descendants led to the creation of a website
honoring their immigrant ancestors from five neighboring Carpathian
villages.The
website was pictured in a recent issue of The New Rusyn Times.
Please note that this talk will not be about the
technical aspects of creating a website, but rather the gathering and
organization of an enormous amount of knowledge into a logical and
searchable structure in order to share it with others. This
multi-layered site (234 pages to date) is very much a work in progress.
And although much time has gone into the writing of the narrative, the
true highlights are the striking images of the homeland with its tiny
Orthodox church – which has been partially supported for over a century
by American Peregrymka village descendants.
