New Jersey Chapter Rusyn Heritage Dinner

Saturday, September 18, 2010, 1-5 PM

First National Russian Hall, 4 Woodhull Avenue, Little Falls, NJ

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that Metropolitan Nicholas of Amissos who was to be the featured speaker is unable to fulfill this engagement.  However, national President of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society, John Righetti has graciously agreed to fill the void in the planned program.  John’s presentation will be “Growing Up Rusyn in America.”

John Righetti grew up in an ethnic community so Rusyn and Slavic that, when he moved to Uzhorod in Transcarpathia in1983, he discovered he lived much more like his European cousins than he did his American neighbors. But it was this absolute immersion in Rusyn culture -- riddled with custom, superstition and family -- that inspired him to found the Carpatho-Rusyn Society, today the nation's largest Rusyn cultural organization. If you grew up in a Rusyn or Slavic setting, come hear Righetti and reminisce. If you didn't, come and learn what life was like in Rusyn enclaves in America that were mirrors of their Old Country villages.

The rest of the planned program remains unchanged, that is:
