The New Jersey Chapter will host a showing and discussion of the 2002 documentary film “I Am From Nowhere.”  Andy Warhol used that expression when asked about his

family’s origin. His mother Julia left the tiny Carpathian village of Mikova’, Slovakia in 1921 to emigrate to the United States.  Until his death in 1987, when reporters, TV crews and filmmakers descended on the village, the inhabitants knew little about the artist.  Soon many villagers claimed that they were related to Warhol, no matter how tangentially.  They were interviewed so frequently, that they began to think of themselves as actors, achieving their “15 minutes of fame” a term made famous by Warhol. The film focuses on various individuals and their dreams of finding a better life in America.  For further information, send an e-mail to njpres@c-rs.org or call Joyce Barr at (973) 540-0871.
