Labor Day Rusyn Rally: 20K Bicycle Ride

Valley Forge, Pennsylvania

Monday, September 6, 2010  9am

 

The Eastern Pennsylvania  Chapter invites all young and getting old bicycle riders to participate in a ride around Valley Forge National Park. Ride pass an interesting portion of US history. Ride pass rows of cannons at Artillery Park, soldiers log huts, earthen fortifications, Gen Washington's headquarters, and numerous statues and memorials.

 Riders will meet at the Parking Lot of the Welcome Center at 9am.  Entrance to the Park is free. Light refreshments will be provided at the end of  the ride. Most of the riding surface is paved. However Chapel Trail is dirt surface. The terrain is level.

 Join us in this rally which celebrates both American and Rusyn traditions.  Happy riding.

Labor Day Rusyn Rally: 20K Bicycle Ride

Degree of Difficulty: Easy
Terrain: Level
Road Surface: Paved and Dirt

1. Start at the Welcome Center Parking Lot South

 2. Left onto Joseph Plumb Martin Trail pass the Muhlenberg Brigade Memorial on your right. (1.10 miles)

 3. Continue to the National Memorial Arch.

 4. Around the Arch and make a left turn towards Gen Wayne Statue.  (0.56 miles)

 5.  Make a sharp right at Redoubt 3 (Not onto Baptist Trace Road).  (0.61 miles)

 6.  Go pass Mount Joy on your left. (0.55 miles)

 7.  Turn left at Gen Von Steuben Statue. ((0.52 miles)

 8.  Continue straight to Washington's Headquarters. (0.83 miles)

 9.  Turn right onto Chapel Trail with Washington's HQs on your left.

     10. Continue on the Chapel Trail along the Schuylkill River. (2.21 miles)

 11. Pass Washington Memorial Chapel on your right.

 12. Continue on the Chapel Trail back to the Welcome Center. (0.29 miles)
