For Experiment AIIIE2, reported in Chapter 6, a device was used to measure postural stability before and after exposure to a condition. This device was a Chattecx Balance System platform which permits the determination of the participant's center-of-gravity based on signals from force plates under each foot. Calculations were based on the dispersion of the participant's center-of-gravity in centimeters in the two horizontal dimensions over a 10 second period sampled at 100 Hz. Lower dispersion values indicate greater stability.
