System Requirements

System requirements when editing and compiling

The FutureBASIC Editor/Compiler requires System 9.2 or later.

If you are using OS X, System 10.2 or later is required.

Minimum requirement for operation of the Editor/Compiler is 8 megabytes of RAM for System 9 users. OS X users do not have RAM minimums as the machine operates with virtual memory and "sees" many megabytes more than FutureBASIC can ever imagine using.

System requirements for the code you create

FutureBASIC can generate code for Macs running systems as old as the 68K Macs running on 6.0.5, but the recommended minimum is System 7.2 (PPC) or 9.2.2 (Carbon).

Your smaller programs will occupy about 400K (for Carbon or PPC applications) and about 300K ( for 68K apps). Your programs will be environment savvy and will tell the user if they are being run on the wrong type of computer or under the wrong version of System Software. They will have their own set of icons, which you may modify, and their own finder information and about box which you may use as templates for customization. They do not come with wine coolers.
