Isaac16 Robot Controller |
The Isaac16 Robot Controller has a modular design, incorporating a removable Operator Interface and an internal 900MHz radio. The removable Isaac16 Motherboard allows the controller to be used in multiple robots, while the wiring and program remain in each robot on the Motherboard. The Isaac16 Robot Controller is a triple microprocessor unit designed to survive inside the harsh world of robots. The Isaac16 Robot Controller has a total of sixteen outputs. There are 8 PWM outputs used for high power Victor/Thor speed controllers and servos. |

There are also 8 digital outputs used to control four Spikes (H-bridge relay module) or to control eight Solid State Relays. Spikes and Solid State Relays are used for powering small motors, solenoids, pumps, and lights. The Isaac16 Robot Controller can monitor its surroundings with 8 digital inputs for switches and 4 analog inputs for sensors and gyros. The unit can be programmed for most any task, using a 50MHz BS2SX processor running PBASIC. The Isaac16 Robot Controller can communicate wirelessly with an Operator Interface via an internal 900MHz radio modem. The Isaac16 Robot
Controller is supplied with a "Default" program to help get the robot up and
running quickly. If more sophisticated robot control is desired, then
a custom program, known as the "User Program", can be written. Source code for
the default program is provided (see link below). All programs running on the
Isaac16 Robot Controller are written in PBASIC, a dialect of the BASIC programming
language. This language was selected because it is fairly easy to learn, use,
and debug in a short period of time. With the exception of the source code for
the default program, the programming utility and manuals can be obtained via
the Internet from Parallax, Inc. at
