  13.                     SWITCH SETTINGS ON IMPS AND TIPS

  16. This note provides a description of the switches on the front panel of
  17. IMPs and TIPs that are important to the correct operation of the
  18. network software.  We have had some difficulty in the past when
  19. certain of these switches were set incorrectly, This RFC will be
  20. updated as necessary, to notify site personnel of changes to the
  21. settings.

  23. A.  516 IMPs
  24.     --------
  25. The IMP at your site is a model 516 if it has a gray cabinet and two
  26. rows of indicator lights on the front panel.  The correct switch
  27. settings are:
  28.  
  29.      1.   Sense switches 1,2,3 and 4:  OFF (DOWN)
  30.      2.   PFI/PFH:  PFI (UP)
  31.      3.   HALT INH:  OFF (DOWN)
  32.      4.   W.D.T.:  OFF (DOWN)
  33.      5.   AUTO RSTRT:  ON (UP)
  34.      6.   MEMORY PRTCT:  OFF (DOWN)

  36. B.  316 IMPs and TIPs
  37.     -----------------
  38. The IMP at your site is a model 316 if it is a TIP or if it is in a
  39. black cabinet and has one row of indicator lights on the front panel.
  40.  
  41.      1.  Sense switches 1,2,3,4 OFF  (top half depressed)
  42.  
  43. Site personnel are requested to keep a copy of this RFC near the IMP
  44. and to check the switch settings at their IMP.  In addition, the
  45. Honeywell field engineers who perform preventive maintenance have been
  46. requested to use this note as a checklist.
