OCR: GRAVITY AND THRUST SPACE TECHNOLOGY GRAVITY, MORE PROPERLY referred Escape path to as gravitational force, is a force that pulls any two objects together. The force is stronger between more massive objects and gets weaker as they move farther apart. The Earth's gravity pulls everything on or near its surface down toward its center. A ball thrown into the air falls to the ground, drawn by this pull of gravity. The harder the ball is thrown, the higher it goes before falling. If you could throw it hard enough, it would escape the pull of gravity and travel ESCAPING FROM THE EARTH into space. To achieve this force, you need the thrust of a rocket engine.
