Discuss color theory, color and pattern blocking, and coloring and painting fabrics through dyeing, marbling, air brushing, the application of fabric paints and silkscreening. Talk about creating textured pieces from flat fabric: share techniques for manipulating fabrics with pleating, scrunching, tucking, slashing and piecing, etc., and for adding texture with embellishments like beads, sequins, couched threads and yarns, etc. Learn to use unusual materials or various fabrics to achieve special effects.
