Using DRV2.COM and DRV2X.COM
The two programs in this package are for use by those who have built thier
own second disk drive add-on, like the Home Computer Magazine project.
They provide a simple quick way of updating the BIOS data area, allowing
use of the second drive.
Only one of the two programs is needed by any one system.
DRV2.COM is for those who have no additional memory/accessories beyond
the basic single-drive jr. This program reboots the computer
when it is installed at boot time by DOS.
DRV2X.COM is for those with additional memory/accessories which already
reboots the computer. This program does not reboot the system
and should run before the program that will reboot.
Both programs are used in the same way. They should be installed in your
CONFIG.SYS file on your boot disk. If you are not sure what a configuration
file is please read your DOS manual, chapter 4. For example:
DEVICE=DRV2.COM
would be used in a configuration file to set the computer for two drives.
Or, if you used the IBM memory board your configuration file would look
like this:
DEVICE=DRV2X.COM
DEVICE=PCJRMEM.COM
as you can see the DRV2X is installed before PCJRMEM.COM which will reboot
the system.
If you have any trouble or questions please ask me, here or compuserve
(PCjr Forum).
