SF NOTICE
Version 0.95aß
PARASOFT (c) 1994
Written By: Colin Royal
SpitFire Notice Generator, SF Notice is a utility to create many of
your display files for your SpitFire BBS. This program is small and efficient
in size.
SF Notice will not be hacked, disassembled, or any other way reverse
engineered. The author and PARASOFT is not responsible for any damage that may
occur through misuse of this program. All copyrights are reserved by PARASOFT
and the author.
SpitFire copyright by Buffalo Creek Software and Mike Woltz.
SF Notice reqires itself to be located in the SPITFIRE home directory
so it may find the file "SFNODE.DAT". Should it not find the node file, SF
Notice will halt and ask you to move the program to the home directory.
Configuration:
SF Notice uses a configuration file, SFNOTICE.CFG. It looks something
like this:
Y ;Clear Screens (Y to clear screens)
34 ;Main Border Color \
36 ;Secondary Border Color \ (limited to
33 ;Text Color / 2 characters)
0 ;Background Color /
N ;Main Border \
N ;Secondary Border > Dark Color (Y)
N ;Text /
Colin Royal ;Sysop Name (Limited to 25 Characters)
Gamer's Paradise BBS ;BBS Name (Limited to 30 Characters)
The configuration file must have 10 lines and each one must contain
the suitable information if the program is to work properly.
The following are the foreground colors for SF Notice.
30 - Grey
31 - Red ** These color pertain only to the outer &
32 - Green inner borders and the text on the output
33 - Yellow files. This will be changed to include the
34 - Blue editing screen.
35 - Violet
36 - Cyan
37 - White
The following are the background colors for SF Notice.
0 - Black
41 - Red ** If you choose yellow for your text color
42 - Green keep in mind that Dark Yellow will not
43 - Yellow display in the display files if using a
44 - Blue white (47) background.
45 - Violet
46 - Cyan
47 - White
**NOTE** the colors on the 3D screens are preset in SF Notice.
SF Notice Operation:
The operation of SF Notice is quite simple. There are two screens that
show before you actually edit the display screen.
The first screen is mostly self explanitory. Chose which file(s) you
wish to create and the program sets the name for you. Option "O", Other
Display Files, allows you to enter the file you wish to create if it is not
listed in the first screen. When you choose option "C. Caller Record", you
will be promted for a full or partial name. Then SF Notice will search the
SFUSERS.DAT file for a match. Choosing "R. Reset Colors" will allow you to
change the screen and output files. The choices of this screen all all self
explanitory. When you select the Default Colors, the program will use the
colors preset in the SFNOTICE.CFG file.
The second screen shows you four borders available to you. Make your
selection of A, B, C, D or E for no borders. (Border selections are double
line, single line, double-single line, and single-double line. Block borders
are not included, and will not unless specifically requested in the future.)
You will then be prompted for 3D screens (Y or N). Then you will be asked
which style of screens you would like. (Currently 2.) Next you will be asked
if you want text only ascii screens. (Y will generate a generic ascii text
screen, N will generate the same type borders chosen.)
**NOTE** If no Borders are choosen, the 3D option and screen style
will be skipped.
The third screen is the editing screen. The colors shown on your
screen are those chosen through the configuration file or what you have chosen
through the Rest Colors option from the main menu. These colors will be
reflected in you output ANSI screen. Please note that the colors of the 3D
screens are preset and cannot be changed. You have 12 lines of data 67
characters long available to you. After ENTER is press on line 12 the program
will write your screens and then ask if you would like to do another. Press
ENTER at the first character of any blank line and SF Notice exits and saves
ths screen. Pressing ENTER in this manner on the first line exits and you can
start over from the beginning. When ENTER is pressed on a blank line, starting
with line 2, SF Notice will trim all blank lines from the display files.
When the screens are written, SF Notice returnes to the Main Menu.
SF Notice is not crippled in any way and only shows the word
unregistered on the screens. It does not expire, nor does it have any
limitations written in.
