Home of the Very Best PCBoard 15.2 PPE Utilities!
Winner of the #1 Commercial PPE (SubscriP) at ONE BBSCON 1994!
Intelec Lets You Connect Direct With Network Host! Visa MC is accepted!
Our IN_9501.ZIP file comes down with the INTELEC.QIF file for only the
first 5 days of the month. If you fail to extract it during that time it
is a free download off the host BBS. Please pass this file on to others.
Within IN_9501.ZIP is complete network information, hub list, BBS member
lists, rules, pertinent info text files and an application form. It is a
free D/L from Intelec Online (numbers shown above). Intelec's a FREE net
and one of the highest in quality and activity! But we're strict when it
comes to our policies. There is no free speech in Intelec and our rules
of behavior are all strictly enforced. But this has a beautiful result,
there is no anarchy here, those making themselves a problem, are removed
after 1 warning, and if severe enough without warning at all. The result
is a peaceful network where opposing viewpoints are discussed maturely,
and a calm and enjoyable atmosphere is easily maintained. If your board
is full of users seeking this kind of e-mail sanctuary, they will have a
very good time with our network. If they are problematic, arrogant, and
immature, applying may not be a good idea. Boards with constant problem
users are eventually removed entirely and sometimes permanently. But we
have found it's far more common for users to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere
than to try to destroy it. We have been around for many years now and we
know how to treat users, with respect. Intelec has more quality traffic
nearly every other BBS network around, and without the anarchy found in
nearly every other BBS network relaying today. Intelec, # 1 in quality!
If interested in or already carrying the Intelec Network and you'd like
to use the host BBS as your uplink site, are more than welcome to do so.
But if you do there's a $2/month access fee so we can offest the cost of
uploading the satellite files to the uplink BBS. Calling the host would
be ideal for those interested, since the QWK's coming down from the bird
are generated on the host BBS, and they use the host system's conference
numbers. Also, the host system is reliable fast and you don't have to be
concerned about losing your hub. And the fee for doing so is less than 7
cents a day! How many other nets permit calling the host system directly
even if you're a node? Here's a breakdown of the rates/payment schedules
If date is between 01/01/95 - 01/31/95 - $24 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 02/01/95 - 02/28/95 - $22 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 03/01/95 - 03/31/95 - $20 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 04/01/95 - 04/30/95 - $18 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 05/01/95 - 05/31/95 - $16 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 06/01/95 - 06/30/95 - $14 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 07/01/95 - 07/31/95 - $12 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 08/01/95 - 08/31/95 - $10 to be paid through 12/31/95
If date is between 09/01/95 - 09/30/95 - $32 to be paid through 12/31/96
If date is between 10/01/95 - 10/31/95 - $30 to be paid through 12/31/96
If date is between 11/01/95 - 11/30/95 - $28 to be paid through 12/31/96
If date is between 12/01/95 - 12/31/95 - $26 to be paid through 12/31/96
In other words, as of 09/01 of a year, the following year is required to
be paid in full as well. We've decided to do this as A) we don't want to
deal with checks less than $10 and the SysOps will only have to make out
another check in a few months anyway. And B) so that all accounts become
due at the same time so we don't have an accounting nightmare over this.
For expiring SysOps the fee's due 12/01, 30 days before the fee expires.
Also Intelec has now dropped the $35 application fee so if you'd like to
connect directly, this is the only fee to pay. If enough systems do not
connect directly the fee may be imposed regardless of direct connects to
the Intelec Network host BBS. It costs us each month to make the Intelec
Network available on the Planet Connect satellite system. It has been
mentioned that this is a cost that should be picked up by Planet Systems
and we agree, but until it is we must offset our expenses. Regardless of
this factor, $2/month is STILL peanuts compared to the FAR more reliable
phone-line method. Satellites, and specifically Planet Connect, are VERY
*unreliable* due to a poorly planned transmission schedule, transmission
errors and an unreliable uplink BBS site. For this reason, we no longer
allow *any* BBS's using the Planet Connect satellite to apply as a hub
of any level in the Intelec Network. But when PC Systems gets their act
together, we may reconsider at that time.
Visa/MC is now accepted online for satellite fees for faster processing!
Using this method can have you "direct connected" in as few as 24 hours!
Checks payable to INTELEC and mailed to P.O. Box 212 Baldwin, NY 11510.
There's a $20 fee for bounced checks so please be careful. Check must be
in US dollars, against a US bank, and must have bank "tracer codes".
What Is Expected of Those Calling The Net Host!
Some things that others have tried that are not expected of you. Do a
mail scan on your system daily. IF a REP packet is generated, it is to
be uploaded during that day's event. If there is no REP generated then
dialing out is really not necessary for nodes calling the host. But we
do have a minimum of "once a week" that must be maintained for nodes to
call the host system. This is a *minimum* to pick up the private forums
that do not go out on the satellite. If you are a hub for Intelec then
you must call daily, regardless of any REP packet existing or not. You
must call in and grab the private forums DAILY. What we have seen some
SysOps do is upload mail on (example) the 15th. Within that upload is
mail from their board dated the 10th. This is not permissable and can
run the risk of host privileges being revoked. That meant that a mail
scan was either not done on the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th, or it
was scanned on the 10th but the SysOp did not run his dialout until the
15th. Either way, it is not permissable. That is longer than the land-
line method and we are not trying to take a step "backwards" with this
new technology.... Again, scan daily and if a REP is created, send it.
If Uplink/Upload Fails Event Processing
If there is a day when our event fails to send the QWK's to the uplink,
or more likely the uplink BBS experiences any of it's constant problems,
within the INTELEC.QIF zip file will be the previous days' mail in the
format of INTELEC.QWK, INTELEC.QW0, INTELEC.QW1, etc. This is for easy
automation. If you are a hub for Intelec, this is NOT an option, you are
required to call the host BBS and pick up the lost mail. Use the SAT cmd
as shows relay "stats" as well as what file name(s) for you to download.
Of course though, Nodes are welcome to call us and pick up lost mail.
