  5. |                     Is the Bible God's Word?                     |
  6. |                                                                  |  
  7. |  Jesus spoke of a day of coming judgment when He said, "Then     |
  8. |  they [the wicked] will go away to eternal punishment, but the   |
  9. |  righteous to eternal life" (Matthew 25:46).  Because mankind    |
  10. |  is destined for a literal heaven or hell there must be a        |
  11. |  Bible.  In order for God to pass judgment on us He must have    |
  12. |  an objective standard by which to judge--the Bible is that      |
  13. |  standard.                                                       |    
  14. |                                                                  |     
  15. |  The Bible is God's Holy Word, perfect and without error.  If    |
  16. |  it were not, it would be no standard at all.  Paul testified    |
  17. |  that, "All Scripture is God-breathed..." (2 Timothy 3:16).  It  |
  18. |  was written by God through men who, "...spoke from God as they  |
  19. |  were carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21).  The     |
  20. |  Bible is comprehensible.  What good would a perfect standard    |
  21. |  be if no one could understand it?  Also, the Bible is not       |
  22. |  "open" to various interpretations or it ceases to be a          |
  23. |  reliable standard.  Each verse of the Bible has only one        |
  24. |  correct interpretation but may have many applications.          |

  26. |  In Revelation 19:13 Jesus Christ is called the Word of God.     |
  27. |  The Bible is His word to mankind.  Jesus said, "...whoever      |
  28. |  hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life     |
  29. |  ...the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that    |
  30. |  very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day"       |
  31. |  (John 5:24; 12:48).  The Bible was given to show us the way to  |
  32. |  obtain eternal life; "...take to heart what is written in it,   |
  33. |  because the time is near" (Revelation 1:3).                     |
