CUL:The clamor of the Cults
The voices of the cults
The Christian Cults, many of them claiming to be the true Church on
earth, speak with varied voices. The voice of Mormonism is itself dual,
for there are two different Churches of Latter-day Saints, each with
twelve Apostles, and both claiming to the right Church. The Jehovah's
Witnesses are diverse form these, and yet they, too, acknowledge none
right but themselves. Other voices clamor for attention - those of
Christian Science, Theosophy, Christadelphianism, Spiritualism, The
Radio Church of God, Seventh Day Adventism, The churches of Christ -
and the seeker for Truth may only find himself bewildered by all these,
and many more, confusing voices.
The Voice of God
The inspired Writing says: "God having spoken to the fathers in many
portion and in many ways of old by the prophets, in the last days of
these (the prophets) spoke to us in Son" Heb. 1:1-2). How wonderful
this declaration! God having of old spoken in the prophets, has
personally fulfilled their mission by a full revelation of Himself, in
Son. (Thes O.T. revelation were various in nature and form; fragments
of the whole truth, presented in manifold forms, in shifting hues of
separated color: Christ is the full revelation of God, Himself the pure
light, uniting in His one Person the whole spectrum, ' Henry Alford,
D.D., commentary on The Greek Testament.) Jesus Christ is the Word of
God (Rev. 19:13). God has spoken to us, in Son. No further need for
prophets and partial or progressive revelations - God was "In Christ"
and in Him has said all.
Thus while the many voices of the Cults are contradictory and
confusing, the single, authoritative voice of God speaks in divine
clarity: Jesus said: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man
cometh unto the Father but by Me" (John 14:6). Jesus Christ, -
crucified, buried, risen from the dead and alive for evermore. Here,
indeed, is the Saviour!
Are you a Latter-day Saint?
Do you know, that no church on earth can save you, but (Acts 4:12)
only the Lord Jesus Christ? That Joseph Smith testified to having been
a diviner; held conversations with spirits; translated the Book of
Mormon by spirit-writing and was a clairvoyant? God abominates all who
practice these dark arts (see Deuteronomy 18).
Do you know that baptism for the dead is not a Christian rite, and
that baptism, no matter by whom performed, cannot save you? Jesus
Christ alone is the Saviour. "Salvation belongeth unto the Lord (Ps.
3:8); "Behold, God is my salvation" (Isaiah 12:2).
Are you prepared to rest your hope of 'Exaltation' on
anti-Christian, Mormon Temple rites? These are borrowed from those of
Freemasonry, which in turn are based on pagan secret mysteries. Jesus
declared, "In secret have I said nothing" (John 18:20), and the Apostle
Paul, speaking by the Spirit of Truth, said "God...dwelleth not in
temples made with hands" (Acts 17:24). God is not worshiped, in spirit
and in truth, by ordinances of merely human origin: "But let him that
glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am
the Lord which exercise living kindness, judgment, and righteousness,
in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord" (Jeremiah
9:24). You can become a true son of God by receiving Jesus Christ as
your Saviour and Lord (John 1:11-13; Rom. 10:9, 10; 1 John 3:1-2).

Are you a Jehovah's Witness?
Do you know that you can be saved, and one day join the redeemed in
Heaven? God says, "behold (consider), now is the time of acceptance;
behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2). Do you know that
Jesus Christ warned His disciples not to acknowledge any man, or group
of men, as absolute authoritative teachers? He said, "But by not ye
called rabbi; for one is the teacher of of you, and all ye are brothers
... Neither by ye called leaders, because your leader is one, the
Christ" (Matt. 23:8, 10). Are you prepared to take the risk of resting
your faith on the wisdom of men (1 Cor. 2:5), rather than on Jesus
Christ the power of God (1Cor. 1:24)?
Do you know that the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures is
not always consistent? A recent Christian writer says: "They (the
translators) aver that the Greek words 'Kurios' (Lord) and 'theos'
(God) are rendered 'Jehovah' uniformly. Upon coming to Philippians
2:11, they fail to translate 'Jehovah; as they did in the say word 237
other times, why? It would then have read, 'And every tongue should
openly confess that Jesus is Jehovah to the glory of the Father.' If
Romans 1:13 is translated correctly by them as 'Everyone that calls
upon the name of Jehovah will be saved, ' then verse nine should be
translated, 'For if you publicly declare the word in your mouth that
Jesus is Jehovah ... you will be saved.' You note in both places they
broke their own rules and left 'Lord' stand."

Are you a member of the World Wide Church of God?
Do you know that the forty-five mission listeners to "The World
Tomorrow" broadcasts and the the six million readers of the Plain Truth
are indoctrinated by Mr. Armstrong with his teaching that Man is 'body
and breath' - that 'he is a soul, but has no soul'? Do you know that
many of Mr. Armstrong's teachings are in direct opposition to those of
our Lord Jesus Christ? Consider the following:
Mr. Armstrong teaches that death is cessation of consciousness and
existence. But Jesus said, "The rich man also died ... and in hell
(hades) ... being in torments ... said, Father Abraham ... I am
tormented in this flame" (luke 16:22-24). Mr. Armstrong teaches that no
one can be born again now. But Jesus said, "Ye must be born again"
(John 3:7). Mr. Armstrong teaches that the wicked will be annihilated.
But Jesus said (Matt. 25), that the "blessed ... righteous" would enjoy
"Life eternal" (vs. 34, 46), while the "cursed" would go away "into
everlasting fire" ... "punishment eternal" (vs. 41, 46). Bearing in
mind the solemn and eternal issues involved, whose word will you
believe - that of Mr. Armstrong, or that of the Lord Jesus Christ?
