Magnificient cupboard has two panelled doors, each decorated with two bouquets of potted flowers, carved in the middle of the panels. The upper cross piece bears a rosette-centred garland of leaves. The frame of the cupboard and the rectilinear cornice give depth to the facade which has a shrine-like air, intended to preserve a tender sentiment in the form of a floral souvenir. The bouquet-decorated armoire was typical of the marriage furniture of Normandy. It is surprising that few examples of it were found in Quebec even though its complex carving required a high degree of skill.
Under the many coats of paint and varnish which have attempted to rejuvenate it, this cupboard preserves its original blue-green colour with traces of polychrome on the designs. Period: End of the 18th century.
