  6. Due to some not fully understandable incompatibility between VISION programs
  7. and 486 machines (in spite of the claimed 100% compatibility with INTEL 386)
  8. I've recompiled all VISION programs substituting all non plain standard
  9. programming statements, avoindg tricks etc. Now it works also on 486 CPUs.

  11. MOUSE Aware
  12. -----------
  13. VISION now loves mice. Before starting it looks for a MOUSE driver.
  14. You can use both at the same time keyboard and mouse commands.

  16. IDLE Time Aware
  17. ---------------
  18. If you leave VISION unattended with your secret information visible to
  19. all intruders, VISION after a predefinited minutes executes a screen
  20. saver of your choice. Try my PW.COM to get also some kind of security.
  21. (PW.COM and PW.DOC in the VISION package).

  23. LAN Version
  24. -----------
  25. Create  a  VISION  directory  on the LAN server giving to ALL VISION files ALL
  26. LAN permissions (read, write, cancel, etc.)
  27. In  reality,  to  don't  getting  mad  with  LOCK/UNLOCK  SHARE  and other LAN
  28. programming  techniques,  VISION  simply  generates  a temporary file, copy of
  29. requested  .DB,  .NDX and .KEY files for each LAN user requestor. Now, because
  30. usually  each  LAN PC executes a copy of VISION program on its CPU, with above
  31. procedure  it  reads  also  its  own data base copy. In this way no concurrent
  32. users conflict.

  42. While VISION 6.2 is totally compatible with DB done with previous releases,
  43. you can benefit of compression feature, converting all old .DB to new and
  44. compressed .DBC in the following way:
  45.  
  46. 1) Set COMPRESSION=ON in VISION.CFG file.
  47. 2) Execute VISION
  48. 3) Move the bar up to data base name to covert
  49. 4) Press Alt-U keys to generate original ASCII .UPD file, then confirm
  50. 5) Press Alt-B keys to recreate the data base, now in compressed format
  51. 6) Give its name without any extension (the same name of point 3)
  52. 7) Write new data base comment line (if you wish the same as before)
  53. 8) Now, after compression, you have to see a "c" on the right of the filesize
  54.    number which must be much less than before

  65. Each VISION Textual Data Base has now any text line length. Just only
  66. the Keyword Window has the 78 characters maximum per line limit.

  68. Added TAB (to scroll text left), Shift-TAB (to scroll text right) and
  69. Shift-Home to reposition text at column 1.

  71. So that now you can translate any ASCII text into a VISION free format
  72. data base, without taking care of the 78 limit.

  76. It's not true the viceversa. If you build a new VISION v 6.0 Data Base,
  77. you aren't no more able to read it with previous VISION versions.

  79. To replace old VISION versions, simply copy into VISION directory
  80. all VISION61.ZIP files. (If you have changed VISION.CFG or VISION.MSG
  81. or VIS_OVL.MSG message files, make a back-up copy of them, then replace
  82. all VISION files, finally modify the new files with back-uped ones).
