  11. Once upon a time, I thought I might want to share a house with somebody.
  12. Having lived in close quarters with other people in the past, I recognized
  13. the importance of knowing what they were really like before investing too
  14. much time and energy. So I engaged that person in conversation on another
  15. topic, without letting on that I was interested in house-sharing, so that
  16. he/she wouldn't be on their "best behaviour". It was very instructive.
