- : will be ok for my needs.
-
- Well, you probably should buy an Amiga 3000 or a smaller Amiga with turbo (020
- or 030/040) or then on of the new AGA machines, I'm not sure how EMPLANT works
- with A4000 but it should soon and Amiga 1200 version is on it's way. So buy an
- Amiga magazine and look how much an Amiga 3000 with four megs memory and at-
- least 52 meg hard disk, it should work just fine with EMPLANT, I'm not sure
- what is it's price but it's much more cheaper now than a year ago.
-
- : What I would like are some specs on the EMPLANT
- : board, like price, compatability, reputability of the company, etc.
-
- I think you should read the review that also was posted here and in comp.sys.
- amiga.reviews, there was problems with EMPLANT before when it was published in
- a hurry because it was announced to arrive but it didn't and people were gettin
- frustrated about the whole thing and didn't even beleive it did exist. Anyhow,
- the latest version should be quite stable, fast, supports hard drives and multi
- tasking with the Amiga which nobody didn't beleive either.
-
- : I need to run FoxPro for mac when it comes out, so I will probably be stressing
- : the mac end 'to the limit'. What kind of color support does it offer? Does it
-
- 2 - 16 colours with ECS machines and there should be a support for multiple
- different display drivers and support for AGA (256 colours) in the near
- future, the latest version should have quite quick colour modes.
-
- : emulate a II series machine (IIci, II LC etc), or one of the older models
- : (Classic, se30, etc)? If the speed is 7 times faster than a classic, that
- : should be enough for me.. Is there any kind of limitation as to how much
- : RAM is supported? I would LIKE to be able to get a 'mac' running with AT LEAST
- : 8 or 9 megs, and a 150-200 meg drive and probably 800x600 colour..
-
- Currently IIx I think, atleast that is what the review says, there might be
- support for others too and some improvements in the future, I don't own the
- board, I just read everything about it. If you have enough memory in your
- Amiga you can have 8 or more memory for Mac, such resolution should be pos-
- sible with AGA but I'm not sure what it offers for ECS (A3000...).
-
- : And then, how much more for the EMPLANT?
-
- Depends on setup, if you wish to have Apple Talk or SCSI driver, etc, read
- the reviewm there was some price information.
-
- : I know you guys have fixed the flicker problems, but does the normal 3000
- : come with the fix these days, or is that a small 'addition'??
-
- A3000 has a built-in flicker fixer and AGA machines will also have only very
- little flicker or none, they don't have a flicker fixer but they actually
- don't need it as they have that monitor database system, I don't know how
- it exactly works, anyhow, A3000 has a built-in flicker fixer as ECS needs
- it with some resolutions.
-
- : Do you still need to buy ROMS for the EMPLANT? If so, which ones? I assume
- : System 7.01 (or whatever the latest version is) runs ok?
-
- 7.01 should work fine and you still need the ROMs or a ROM image saved to a
- disk from real MAC II...
-
- : Thanks for any and all help,
-
- Anytime...
