- Greetings,
-
- Oh, sorry about the poltically incorrect subject headings. Since we
- often think of surprise as an essential element in humor, it may be
- inappropriate to view the congressional response to Clinton's plans
- to command the military to end its discriminatory practices toward
- gays. Still, it is clearly ironic that the same irresponsible twits
- who've consistently avoided exercising their constitutional
- duty to declare war by conferring on one president or another bogus
- power to make undeclared war by invoking the president's status as
- commander in chief are now reversing their positions and making bogus
- claims that congress must have input into this process.
-
- Of course, it is equally unsurprising, hence unamusing, that (as several
- commentators have observed) the reasons used by the homophobes are
- strikingly similar to the reasons invoked by those who opposed racial
- integration of the military. I very much enjoyed learning that Strom
- Thurmond, who has served since the 40s was saying the same things about
- racial integration that some of these scumbags are saying about sexual-
- preference integration.
-
- Marty (who knows plenty of heterosexuals he'd much prefer to avoid bunking
- with)
